Willie Scott Obituary

THE BEGINNING

Willie Lee Scott was born August 22nd 1925 in Holman (Fayette County) Texas , to Love and Emmie Carlton. She departed this life on Thursday, September 9th 2021 in La Grange, Texas. Willie Lee attended school in Holman at the old church school of St. Paul. Later she married Richard (Buddy) Scott on April 17th 1946. To this union no children were born.

NEW MEXICO

After wedding Richard Scoot they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he was stationed in the United States Army until he passed on November 6, 1966. She remained in Albuquerque for the next 40 years.

While in New Mexico she began working in the private home sector, the later at the University of New Mexico Hospital as a Nursing Aide. Later in her career she able to further her training by completing her certification at the Institute of Vocational Nursing. This certification allowed her to become a Nursing Technician in the Pediatrics section of Medical Surgery.

During her time at the hospital she received many recognitions including Employee of the Month. The hospital is where she completed her career and retired.

Outside of work she was a devoted member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Albuquerque. New Mexico. Here she was a choir member, member of the women's auxiliary, member of the Pastor's community group, and officer of the mission program.

LA GRANGE

In 1999, Willie Lee moved back home to La Grange, Texas to be with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and friends in the community.

She continued to devoted to her faith, rejoining St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Weimar. Where she served as President of the missionary committee, Sunday School Teacher and later became one of the Mother's of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for several years.

Willie Lee was preceded in death by her parents; Love and Emmie Carlton, five brothers: Albert Carlton, Sr., Lovie Carlton, O. B. Carlton, Melvin Carlton, Sr., and James Carlton; one sister: Ore Lee Newton. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters, Rosie Lee Scott )La Grange), Francis Mae Scott (La Grange) and Attie Lee Ellis (Houston) and one brother, Frank Carlton, Sr. (Round Rock); three sisters-in-law: Mary Carlton, Ella Mae Carlton and Dorothy Carlton and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from Texas, New Mexico, Missouri and California. Also along with a special niece Sandy Scott and god-daughter Luvenia Scott.
