Willie Drisdale Jr., a longtime resident of Austin, Texas, was born on April 6, 1932, in La Grange, Texas, to Willie Drisdale Sr. and Willie Mae (Horst) Drisdale. From humble beginnings, he began a remarkable journey that would span nearly a century and touch countless lives. A man defined by service and resilience, Willie leaves behind a legacy of strength and a lifetime of cherished memories shared with family, friends, and his community. He will be remembered not only for his strength of character, but for the genuine compassion he showed to everyone he encountered.

A proud graduate of La Grange High School, Willie continued his education at Prairie View A&M University before answering the call to serve his country. He went on to complete a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Army, serving with honor and dedication while attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Beyond his military service, Willie was a man who truly embodied love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to others. Known for his calm, steady presence and warm, welcoming smile, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and at ease. His generosity and gentle spirit left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend—roles he embraced with deep pride and love.

Willie Drisdale Jr.’s life stands as a powerful testament to the value of service, the importance of family, and the enduring impact of kindness.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Drisdale of La Grange, Texas; his sons, Patrick Drisdale of Austin, Texas, and Sedrick Drisdale (Pamela) of Austin, Texas; and his daughter, Leanita Woods of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Fannie Burt of Austin, Texas, and his brother, Horace Drisdale of Plum, Texas. His memory will be lovingly carried on by his eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
