Ruby Mae (Henderson) East

Ruby Mae East was born on March 26, 1951 in La Grange, Texas to the late Ruby Lee (Henderson) Johnson and Lovie Dobbins. She was the second born of eight children. She grew up in the Lord and was baptized at an early age, at Lil Bethel Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to St. James Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Austin Jones, serving as an usher on the usher board. She was a caregiver to many for over 40 years and loved her profession. She attended Randolph High School and graduated from La Grange High School.

Ruby had a special talent for cooking and loved to cook Sunday dinners every Sunday. Everyone knew that after a good Sunday services; you could go right to Mrs. Ruby's house for a full plate. She would never let anyone go away hungry!

On Sunday, May 2, 2021 Ruby Mae East was called home to her eternal resting place by her Master, the good Lord. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Lee Johnson, her father, Lovie Dobbins, and her sister, Mary Lee Henderson.

Her loving memories will be treasured by her loving husband, Edgar East, Jr. of La Grange, TX; her daughters, Tammie Henderson of Houston, TX and Courtney Truesdale (L.J.) of La Grange, TX; her siblings, Ruthie L. Henderson of Houston, TX, Fletcher Johnson (Caroline) of Houston, TX, Moralene Johnson (L.A.) of La Grange, TX, Charles Johnson (Joyce), of Houston, TX, Dorothy Johnson-Menefee of La Grange,, TX and Josephine Henderson-York of Austin, TX. Special brother-Willie Lee Thompson of La Grange, Tx. Special cousin- Florence Collins of La Grange, TX. Special Aunt-Ella Mae Carlton of Houston, TX. Grandchildren- Shekeria Henderson (Bookie) of Houston, TX, Sheketha Henderson (Lil Boo) of Houston, TX, A.J. of Houston, TX, Zazmine Harris (Zaz) of Austin, TX, Za'Neshia Harris (Mookie) of La Grange, TX, Brianna Pete (Bre) of Houston, TX, Sparkle Henderson (Dog) of La Grange, TX, Zoe Johnson of La Grange, TX, Zaiden Johnson of La Grange, TX, Colby & Tori of Dallas, TX.
