Onnia Foley Obituary

Keep your roots deep in him and have your lives built on him.

Colossians 2:6

Our mother loved God first. She loved people and would help anyone. She had a very big heart. Mother brought us up in church, because God was the center of her life. This is our "Greatest Loss." Momma is gone. She can rest now. Thank you, Lord, for loaning her to us for 73 gracious years.

Our mother Mrs. Onnia Mae Green Foley was born on March 17, 1949, to Lula Mae Lemons and Nathan (Champ) Herring in Hallettsville, Texas.

She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age. She attended Stevens-Mayo School in Hallettsville, Texas. After graduation she married Walter Rocella Foster, Sr. and to this union four children were born. Cheryl Barnes, Walter Rocella Foster, Jr., Kimberly Murphy and Michael Foster.

Mae moved to Houston, Texas and attended Texas Southern University and upon graduation she received a job teaching school and assisting special needs children. Later she moved to Austin, Texas where she attended Vogue Cosmetology School and became a professional hair stylist. Due her quality of work, she was asked to return to Vogue Cosmetology School as a well-known respected instructor, where she guided, inspired and shared her unique talent amongst many students.

Later she moved back to Hallettsville and went to work at the Lavaca County Senior Citizens Program. Here is where she met and fell in love and married Reverend Cloydes Foley. He filled her life with so much joy, happiness and laughter.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents: Lula Mae and Nathan Herring, her grandmother: Queen Elizabeth Young, one sister: Annie Marlene Bedford, one brother: Thomas Bedford, one great granddaughter: Chazmin Wilson and one great-great grandson: Stevon Murphy.

On November 8, 2022, Onnie Mae Foley was called to eternal rest surrounded by her family at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville, Texas. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband: Reverend Cloydes L. Foley, her four children: Cheryl Barnes, Kimberly Murphy, Michael Foster all of Hallettsville, TX and Walter Rocella Foster, Jr. of Portland. Oregon. 19 grandchildren: Charles Wilson, Jimmiecia Benit, Jimmyra Foster, Ashley Foster, Atrena Foster, Peggy Barnes, Christopher Price, Yhnoree Foster, Joseph Foster, Jordan Foster, Amy Murphy, Steve Murphy, Sarina Murphy, Makeia Foster, Nikaela Foster, Jayden Foster, Rosele Foster, Vadal Adams and a host of great-great grandchildren.
