On March 1, 1948, Nettie Rice Foley made her grand entrance into the world, born to WD and Lillie Prince Rice. With a sharp wit, a giving heart, and an unstoppable work ethic. Mettie made her mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A proud graduate of Huth Memorial Nursing School, Nettie earned her badge of honor as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Whether offering life-saving care or pulling a playful prank, she brought both skill and humor to her work, ensuring her legacy would be cherished in the lives of those she touched.
Nettie's dedication to her faith began at a young age. Her evangelistic efforts led countless souls- including her own brothers and Rev. Harold Johnson-to the Lord. She opened her heart and home to family and friends, living by her favorite scripture. Matthew 25:40: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Whether delivering a heartfelt sermon or whipping up a comforting meal, Nettie embodied faith in action.
Outside of work and ministry, Nettie loved softball. She could outplay just about anyone on the field. She enjoyed showcasing her talent in her brother's softball tournaments, she would often trade her glove for a fishing rod. She delighted in the trill of a big catch! Her life was a beautiful balance of spirited competition and peaceful moments by the water.
On August 31, 1968. Nettie married her one true love, Kennon Wayne Foley. Together they raised two extraordinary daughters, Rachel Foley Grayer (Michael) and Regina Foley. Nettie's joy was multiplied with the addition of her beloved granddaughter, Courtney Kirby Conaway (Jernard), and her great-grandchildren: Jernard, Jr., Joshua, Jaelyn, and Maisyn Grace Conaway.
Nettie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, grandchildren, her brother, Elton Rice (Sedalia), her sister, Doria Davis, her godchildren, Roderick Axel, LaSonya Foster, Tracy McAfee Bacon and a host of family and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
