Obituary

NETTIE’S STORY

Nettie Lee Fanning  was born on October 1, 1937 to Allison and Nettie Ferguson at Fayette County Hospital in La Grange, Texas.

She was the youngest of eight children: Sherman, Lela Ethel, Annie, Gladys, Joe, Haskell, Johnny Mae, and Nettie.

She attended and finished at La Grange Colored School and Roundtop-Carmine School.  Her employment started at Sakowitz and ended with Rene’s Bridal. She married Batiste Jones in 1957 in Houston, Texas. 

She gave birth to four children:  Phyllis, Gerry, Craig and Cedric.  

She was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in 4th Ward, Houston, Texas.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son Craig.

Leaving her to survive are her children: Phyllis (James), Gerry (Carol), Cedric (Lisa), sister Annie, grandchildren: NaTyshai, Jared, Jerad, Jamesia, Joe, Tiffany, Maiya, Devin, great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
