Myrtle Ray Johnson was born on August 16, 1941, in Granger, Texas, to DL and Dixie Lee Chandler. She grew up in Granger and later met and married Bobby James Johnson, with whom she had six children.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, DL and Dixie Chandler; her son, James Johnson; her sister, Marie Blakey; and her grandson, T'Eddrick Huff.
She is survived by her five children: Bobbie Chandler (Jessica), Shirley Huff (Arthur), Terry Johnson, Melvin Johnson, and Nicole Johnson, as well as her goddaughter, Karen Giles. Myrtle is also survived by six siblings: Darlene Bradford, Ricky Chandler, Mickey Chandler, Dickie Chandler, Zavier Chandler, and Tommy Stevenson. Additionally, she leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
