Minnie Harris Obituary

A celebration of my home going, I fought a good fight, I kept the faith.

On March 19, 1932, a baby girl was born to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Jack Johnson in La Grange, Texas, whom they named Minnie Mae Johnson. She was the eighth child of ten children.

Minnie went to Holman Rural School. At the age of 11 years old, she was baptized at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1955 and joined  Hills Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. Paul. After the church moved in 1977 she became a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. L. F. Chaney, where she remained a member until God called her home to rest. Here she worked diligently as President of the Pastor's Aide, an Usher, Treasurer on the Senior Usher Board, a member of Mission II and a member of the Christian Union.

Minnie married W. D. Henderson in 1948 and to this union three children were born. In 1991 she married the love of her life Mr. Bennie Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children (Frank & Charles Henderson), six brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two children; Gloria Henderson and Clarence Henderson both of Houston, Texas, one sister; Stella M. Johnson of Weimar, Texas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
