Michael Geroid Polk

Michael Polk was born January 28, 1979, in Hallettsville, Texas to David, Sr. and LaVera Jean Polk.  He grew up in Hallettsville Texas, attended school in the Hallettsville Independent School District and graduated from Stroman High School in Victoria, Texas.  Michael loved to tinker with computers, taking them apart, putting them back together and he even attended some college to enhance his skills.  In 2006, Michael married Mistral Corke.  To this union, Michael Gerod Polk, Jr. was born. The marriage ended in 2015.

Michael was very close to his maternal grandmother, Margene Lemons and to his mother.  He had a funny sense of humor and when he displayed it, you couldn’t help but laugh along with him.  His smile could warm your heart and behind that smile you could sense that he was courageous. He was a friend to many, down to earth and very laid back.  In the words of his Mistral, “when Michael loved, he loved with all his heart. He may not have known how to express it at all times, but he loved with All his heart. And he loved his children.”  He loved his family and shared a very special relationship with his cousin, Tascha, who was like a sister to him and his late brother, Alexander.  They shared so many moments together growing up.  They were raised together and formed a dynamic trio.  

He was proceeded in death by his father, David Polk Sr., brother, Alexander, David Jr., and sister Mae Jewel Harrison. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother, LaVera Jean Polk Yoakum TX, son, Michael Jr., Houston, TX; daughter, Deyanna, Killeen TX; brothers, Richard Nichols, Cuero TX; Raymond, Victoria TX; Chris, Corpus Christi TX; Charles, Killeen TX; sisters, Sharon, San Antonio TX; Natalie Nichols, Cuero TX; Demetrius Harrison, Corpus Christi TX.
