Melvin King was the fifth child born to Richard King and Velma Lemons King on August 26, 1949 in Oakland, Texas. He attended public school in Weimar, Texas. He accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor M. J. Williams at New Zion Temple #2 in Oakland, Texas. where he was a faithful member until his health declined.
Melvin was employed by Mercy Construction Company of Houston, Texas where he worked for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Richard King, two sisters, Willie Elma King and Georgia Love, Three brothers, Lloyd King, Paul King and Marvin Lemons. Early Thursday morning on December 30, 2021; Melvin was extended an invitation to claim his glory and prepare for eternal life with his Heavenly Father.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memories: Two sisters, Freddie Mae Powell of Weimar, Texas and Marilyn Hardaway of San Antonio, Texas and one brother, Richard Charles King of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
