Mary Jo McKenzie was born March 12, 1954, in Austin, TX to the late Johnnie Mae Henderson.
She received her education from Austin ISD High School in Austin, TX.
Mary was an entrepreneur and started Lord and McKenzie Maid Service in 1982 in Houston and the League City area. She later added janitorial services for local businesses, and Lord and McKenzie served the community for approximately 30 years.
She confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Austin, TX. Mary was an active member of Greater Riverdale Baptist Church in Houston, TX and Victorious Living Christian Center in League City, TX. She held various positions including Deaconess, a member of the choir, a Prayer Warrior Intercessor, and a helper in the Youth Teen Ministry and kid’s drill team. This faithful servant continued to serve until her health failed.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Mae Henderson, and one brother, Napolean Eason. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Roosevelt Jr. of 49 years; only son, Roosevelt III “Tonka” (Jennifer); stepson, Marcus Darden; three sisters, Floreese Mayberry, Georgia Williams, and Brenda Nunn; three brothers, Johnny Caesar, Alton Caesar, and Norris Eason; aunt, Thelma Sorrell, and late aunt, Ruthie Sapp; granddaughters, Lauren and Ashley McKenzie; In-laws, Doris McKenzie, Morris McKenzie, and Terry McKenzie; special nieces, Stephanie Atkins and Victoria Eason; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and church family.
