On a bright and beautiful day, January 15, 1990, in Houston, Texas, a son was born to the late Reverend James O. Hayes and Sister Margaret Hayes. He was named Martin De' Aunta Hayes. Martin attended East Bernard ISD from kindergarten through his high school graduation in 2009.
Martin was a gifted individual with many talents. He had a natural flair for dancing, gymnastics, and singing, and his impeccable comedic timing always brought laughter to those around him. His positive energy and vibrant personality were contagious to everyone he encountered. Martin was always impeccably dressed, always ready to impress.
On March 14, 2025, at 8:20 p.m., Martin passed away from this earthly life to his eternal home in heaven. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Cook Hayes; his father, Reverend James O. Hayes; his nephews, Dominique (DJ) Hayes and Donavan Hayes; and his niece, Aliyha Hayes.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his family, including one brother, Pierre Hayes (Naomi) of Wallis, TX; two sisters, Tracy Hayes and Marjorie (Ann) Hayes, both of East Bernard, TX; and a bonus brother, Charles (Chuck) Cook. He is also survived by four nieces, Candrea Terry (Samuel), Daylon Hayes, Shalondra Hayes, and Destiny Hayes; his four nephews, Pierre T. Hayes, Dayton Hayes, Devon Hayes, and Stephan Dillard; four bonus nieces, Anita Cook, Princess Cook, Cekia Cook, and Jackie Shorter; and two bonus nephews, Tevin Cook and Travion Cook. He is also survived by two aunts, Marcella and Ester, along with two grandnieces, one grandnephew, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
