Martha Lee Oglesby Scott was born to the late Jimmy Oglesby and Arizona Nevels Cummins on July 23, 1932, in Fayette County. She departed this life on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in La Grange, Texas. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church where she was a devoted member and usher for many years. Thereafter, she attended the New Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Louis Zachary until her health failed.
She married Mr. A. V. Scott on August 27, 1949, in La Grange, Texas and to this union four children were born (Alfred, Eugene, Ethel and Shirley). She was employed by Girling Health Care. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Oglesby and Arizona Cummins; husband, A.V. Scott; Sons, Alfred Scott and Eugene Scott; Sisters, Willie Mae Keeling and Ethel Dorn; Brothers, J. C. Morrison and Frank Dorn; Stepsisters, Gloria Hubbard and Connie Mae Cummins and Special Nephew, Thomas Keeling.
She is survived by her daughters, Ethel Ellis (Charles) and Shirley Garner (Lucious), Sister-in-law, Rosie Lee Scott, Daughters-in-law, Linda Scott (Eugene) and Cheryl Scott (Alfred), Grandchildren: Edward Charles Ellis, Jerome Ellis, Cedric Scott (Marshae). Quinn Dobbins (Vickie), La Shae Garner (Jerrod), Erica Dobbins, Eric Dobbins and Gina Smith. 14 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, special nephews, Joe Lewis Keeling, Byron Gilbreath and Stephen Morrison, stepsister, Ida Ruth Henderson, special friend/caregiver, Ivy Vasut and a host of relatives and friends.
