Marjorie Griffin Wilkerson was born February 5, 1942 to the parents of Frank and Minnie (Rogers) Griffin in Plum, TX. Marjorie (also known as Margie) was the baby. Her siblings were Elmo Duncan, Wilburn Duncan, Hattie Mae Duncan-Griffin, Ernest Lee Griffin, Desselene Griffin Marshall, Willard Griffin, Tyree Griffin.
She met and married Ernestine Wilkerson (known to some as Brother, Steen, Wiggy, and Uncle Bubba) on December 6, 1958. They were married 58 years before his passing in 2017.
Margie accepted Christ at a young age. During her school days at Randolph School in La Grange, TX she played basketball and the clarinet. She was an amazing mom providing each of her children with the foundation they needed to have a blessed and productive life teaching them how to believe in themselves and work hard and trust God. She loved cooking and hosting family reunions. During her adult years she maintained the ranch houses on Oak Meadows Ranch, worked at Longhorn Restaurant, worked as a seamstress making bridesmaid dresses, western outfits, draperies, and corsages. She worked at the La Grange School Cafeteria for over 20 years before retiring and establishing a great friendship with her coworkers. She was known for her homemade bread, chocolate cake, and turkey and dressing!! After retiring from LGISD she decided to open her own bakery and named it E & M Bakery. She has baked numerous cakes, cookies, and kolaches for many of us. Margie’s absolute love was worshiping and singing for the Lord! She was an original member of St. James Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Big Spring Hill Baptist Church where her husband was a Deacon until he passed. In 2021 she returned to her home church St. James Baptist Church in Plum, TX. She has been a faithful servant serving over the years as choir president, church secretary, church treasurer, mission sister, and on the food & hospitality committee. She was truly an amazing mom, wife, friend, Christian, and known as the Queen of Everything.
