Mae Willie Ellis was born to Viney Mae Ellis and James ‘Mack’ McKenzie Feb. 24, 1956, in Fayette County, Texas. Mae attended Randolph until integration. Mae graduated from LaGrange High School in 1974.
At a young age she was baptized. She later rededicated her life to Christ after returning to Gay Hill Missionary Baptist Church of LaGrange, under Rev James Evans. Mae was active in the church, where she served as church secretary, sang in the choir, as well as serving as an usher for years.
Dec. 12, 1974, Mae was joined in marriage with Elbert Scott Jr. To this union came Wesley, Sirena, Tre as well n Pierre, Ila, and Carlton. Later they were blessed with another son, Thuren. Mae and Scott lived in West Point for 49 years.
Mae found a love for sewing and cooking at a young age. Just as her mother was Mae became the pilar of her family. She found her greatest delights in her family. Her favorite thing to do next to spending time with her family was watching Young and the Restless, playing dominoes, and working with Mr. Tommy Taylor for 29 years until her health began to fail. Mae began to host a Wednesday dinner, which she used as an excuse to spend even more time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
