Linda Scott Obituary

LINDA RUTH SCOTT gained her heavenly wings on April 30, 2021. Linda was born on May 25, 1953 in La Grange, Texas. She was the 1st born daughter to Lovie Lee Scott and the late Jimmie Lee Homer. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age as a member of Little Bethal Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Ruben Reese.

LINDA attended Randolph School and graduated from La Grange High School in 1971. She became the first African-American to ever work in the La Grange Independent School District's Administrative offices under the supervision of the late Mr. Ray E. Cornes, Director of Instruction.

LINDA went on to graduate from Massey Business College in Houston, Texas where she earned an Associate's Degree in Automation Secretary. She later attended on a scholarship, the University of Houston-Downtown Campus where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, along with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Processing. Linda pursued her career in Accounting by working as a Senior Accountant for many large companies such as Gulf Oil Corporation, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Santa Fe Energy in Houston, Texas. She also worked as a Contract Accountant for many other large companies such as Exxon Mobile, Chevron/Texaco, Occidental Petroleum to name a few.

When Linda was not studying or working so hard, her hobbies included traveling, shopping, sewing and Interior Decorating-Specializing in Window Treatments and Drapery. She also loved spending time with her family. Her favorite TV show of all times was Dark Shadows.

LINDA was preceded in death by her Father Jimmie Lee Homer, Stepmother; Gloria (Homer) Hubbard. Siblings: Charles and Doris Homer, Grandparents: Christina & Lovie (PaPa) Scott, Floyd & Ola Mae Homer and Step-Grandmother, Elnora Scott-East, three aunts, Ella Mae Logan, Jurline Homer-Woolen and Maxine Thomas; four uncles, Alfredie Scott, Sr., (Bronte), Clarence (C.W.) Scott, R.L. Homer and Edward Homer, Sr.

LINDA leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted mother, Lovie Lee Scott; seven sisters, Delories Taylor (Wallace), Willie Mae Scott-Williams, Patricia Black (George), Sandra Johnson (Michael), Melba Mitchell (Otis), Monica Humber (Robert) all of Houston, Texas and Evelyn Grant, Sr., (Lester) of La Grange, Texas; five brothers, John Homer (Zenobia) of DeSoto, TX, Joseph Homer (Karen) of La Grange, TX, Lonnie Homer (Tracy), Floyd Homer & Jimmie Homer, Jr.(Harlisha) all of Houston, TX; five aunts, Dorothy Carlton, Brenda (Ann) Henderson, Linda Sue Toliver, Diane East and Morolene Johnson all of La Grange, TX, Flora Toliver (Leroy) of Houston, TX, Debra Joe Homer-Scott (Bennie) of Weimar, TX and Delores Carr of Mississippi; five uncles, Herman Preston of California, William Riley Homer (Robin) & Cardell Homer (Queen Esther) of Fort Worth, TX, Emmit Homer and Isaiah East (Evelyn) of La Grange, TX along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

LINDA also had a host of special friends, cousins, classmates and co-workers that she remained in contact with throughout her life that we would like to acknowledge; Jessie Ray Boudreaux, Sandra Brown, Hazel McDaniel, Betty Sue Devers, Gloria Jean Sandling and Estella Johnson.

She Will Be Resting At Little Bethel Cemetery  La Grange, Texas
