Leo Vaughns Sr., affectionately known as “Baby,” was born on October 13, 1938, in La Grange, Texas, to the late Mr. Mose Vaughns and Lizzie Mae Kinder Vaughns. In his early years, he attended and was nurtured in faith on the grounds of Bethlehem A.M.E. Church. He received his education at Randolph Elementary School and later graduated from Randolph High School on May 28, 1958, as a proud member of a class of fourteen.
Leo enlisted in the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and served honorably until his discharge on August 2, 1960. He later met Vivian Lois Dobbins, and the two were united in holy matrimony on September 12, 1966, at St. Paul Baptist Church in La Grange, Texas. From this union, one child was born, Leo Vaughns Jr., lovingly known as “Baby Jr.”
On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 6:14 a.m., Leo Vaughns Sr. transitioned from this life at the Transitional Care Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Leo Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Mose Vaughns and Lizzie Mae Vaughns, and by his beloved wife, Vivian Vaughns, who transitioned on April 14, 2025. He lived nine months and six days following her passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory his only child, Pastor Leo Vaughns Jr. (“Baby Jr.”) of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Elmora Moore (“Preet”) of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Leroy Vaughns (“Bubba”) of Houston, Texas and James Fields (Debra) of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Davis (Robert) and Connis Davis (Clard) of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers-in-law, Freddy Dobbins of La Grange, Texas, Ruben Dobbins (Billie), and Richard Dobbins of Fort Worth, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, including two special nieces, Paulette (“Nookie”) and Denise (“Dink”).
