The Life of Kermit Holmes (Jerry)
Kermit Holmes was born on October 9, 1944, in Fayetteville, Texas to the late James and Annie Lee Holmes. His arrival brought so much love, joy and happiness to his family.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended school at Fayetteville and Randolph High School in La Grange, Texas. He is not only remembered for his love of antiques and cars, but his immense love for others and the impact he made on them. God, family and agriculture were some of the monumental things Kermit prided himself on. He left his mark everywhere he went, and his legacy will continue.
Kermit left home at the age of 16 to start his life with Doris Johnson-Holmes (deceased) and from that union, one child, Karen (Holmes) Homer was born. He later moved to Dickinson, Texas and worked for Schroeder Poultry Company, City of Dickinson and Houston Lighting and Power. He later moved back to Fayetteville, Texas to help care for his aging parents and became a rancher.
Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Annie Lee Holmes, brothers, Ervin, Earnest, Leon, James Jr. Holmes. and sisters, Bernice and Gentry.
On the morning of July 24, 2023, surrounded by his family, God received Kermit into his loving arms. He is now forever resting in peace, in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Karen Homer (Joseph) of La Grange, TX, sisters, Mandy (Charles), Dorothy Hubbard, brothers, Richard (Diane), Ed (Narine), Wilbert (Lee Ester) and Charles, three grandchildren, Joseph Homer, Adrian Homer (Harry) and Breanna Homer (Trevor), two great granddaughters, Cara Homer and Baylor Johnson.
