Joseph Simms (Shawty) was born on January 29, 1954, to Mr. Uel Simms, Sr. and Mrs. Rebecca (Jones) Simms in Flatonia, Texas. They were the proud parents of 14 children.
Joseph professed his faith in God and served God at a young age. He enjoyed going to church on Sunday. Growing up in Flatonia, our parents sold our little country home on 37 acres and moved to San Antonio, Texas.
Joe attended Dory Miller Elementary School, later he enrolled into private school during junior high, and graduated with Honors from St. Peter's Clavers. He took much pride and joy in the work he dedicated himself to. He was an excellent independent carpenter and contractor.
On January 4, 1982, he married Ginger, and they had two beautiful daughters, Maxi and Debra. The family attended East St. Mathew's Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Joseph was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin and great friend to a host of friends and was dearly loved by all.
He was preceded to glory by his parents, 4 siblings at birth and siblings, Uel, Jr. and Dorsena.
