He was a fairly simple man, didn't complicate life too much, when the world would crash down on him. It really made me mad, because he wouldn't stop smiling. So, I asked him, "What have you to be so happy about?" He looked up, genuinely surprised, "The assurance of a new creation."
Jessie D. Washington was born on February 19, 1949, in La Grange, Texas. He was the son of Lillie Mae Fields and Jessie D. Washington.
Jessie was a simple man with a joyful spirit and humor and a great big smile which were a treasure for all who knew him. He was known around La Grange as a true handyman for all who needed help in the area.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Fields-Woodards; father, Jessie D. Washington and brother, Reverend Fred L. Washington.
Jessie leaves to love and cherish his memory; his sister, Kim Woodards; brother, Lorenzo Long; special friends, Gerald & Frances Macha; his dog, Bozo and a host of life-long friends of the Cozy Corner Community.
