Gladys was born in Weimar, Texas and attended Karl Downs School. She served as a member of the Church of God in Christ in Weimar and was a long-term member of Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ. She worked for a period of time at Methodist Hospital and Nursing Home.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Cassandra and Pamela, 2 sisters: Marcella and Ester, 3 grandsons: Chicarus, Andre and Kalil, 2 granddaughters: Jasmine and Keyana, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and 3 uncles.
