Evelyn Wilson Obituary

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Evelyn Marie Wilson (née Jackson), a cherished mother, grandmother, and community member.

Evelyn was born on February 28, 1948, in Beasley, Texas, to Gussie Lee Jackson and Jimmy Barnes. She graduated from Wharton County Junior College of Nursing and dedicated over forty years of her life to the healthcare field. Evelyn took great pride in her work, always placing the well-being of her patients at the forefront of her mission.

Following her retirement, she enjoyed attending roping events and spending quality time with her family and close friends.

A beloved member of the Columbus, Texas community, Evelyn passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, open heart, unwavering honesty, and the light she brought to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Wilson; her mother, Gussie Lee Jackson; and her brother, Willie Ray Mayberry.

Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Anthony Jackson (Sheila), Fredrick Jackson (Evette), Terri McGowan, Tammi Miller (Leo), and Reginald Wilson. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of extended family and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
