Reflection of Life
For now, I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:6-7
Elizabeth Goodman Williams was born on February 4, 1936, in Sublime, Texas to Zelmo Goodman and Vetter Goodman. She attended school in Weimar, Texas.
Elizabeth united in Holy Matrimony with Jessie Williams Jr. on May 23, 1952. To this union four daughters and two sons were born: Shirley, Diane, Barbara, Norma Jean, Melvin, and Jessie III.
Elizabeth and Jessie lived in Weimar, Texas and this is where they raised their six children. She was employed at Youens Hospital in the dietary department for many years. She later worked for several years in home health care.
She and Jessie united with Mt. Arie Baptist Church where she was a faithful and devoted member for many years until she departed this life. She willingly served in many areas, she sang in the Mt. Arie women choir, she was vice president of the mission ministry, and she was faithful to the church as the wife of Deacon Jessie Williams Jr.
She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren with all of her being. Her face lit up when she was around them. She showed her love in a way that they wanted to be around her. Elizabeth was very fond of and loved her siblings’ children; her nieces and nephews and they had much love for her and enjoyed talking and visiting with her.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Shirley Burton, Diane Williams, Jessie Williams III, and Barbara Williams, one sister, Vida Goodman, 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She joins in the Church Triumphant a host of relatives and friends which includes her parents, her husband Jessie, a son Melvin, a daughter Norma Jean, four brothers and four sisters.
