Curtis Herring Obituary

"For the test of the heart is trouble, and it always comes through the years.

And the smile that is worth the praises of earth, Is the smile that shines thru the tears."

Keep your enthusiasms, and forget your birthdays- formula for youth!

Curtis Herring was born on June 23, 1929 to the late Laura Scott and Nathan Herring, Sr. in Vienna, Texas.

As told by Uncle Curtis, he was the "Jack of all trades" and have traveled the world by sea and air. He loved spending time with family and humoring all with his far-fetched stories and tales.

He professed Christ and united with the Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his health began to decline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; Nathan Herring, Jr., Vandoria Herring, Henry Herring, Gladney Herring, Thurman Herring, Sr., Jessie Herring, Oscar Herring and Horace Elliot. Nine sisters: Lillie Bolden, Cleo Latson, Vanilla Taylor, Maurece Cheeks, Victoria Wilson, Elvira Shelton, Julia Gammage, Alma Foley and Bessie Elliot.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter, Marie Antoinette McGee of Flint, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
