CLEO GRANT gained her heavenly wings on November 23, 2022. Cleo was born November 8, 1943, in Fayette County, Texas to Pearline Filmore and Lora Hubbard. She was baptized at Big Bethal AME Church at an early age and remained faithful to worship God.
Cleo united in marriage to the late Curtis Grant on July 10, 1983. They had three wonderful children, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Cleo attended Randolph High School and soon thereafter she earned her nursing degree. She was a very hard worker. She worked in Austin for thirty years. She retired from Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Weimar, Texas in 2021.
​Following her retirement, she immediately continued to serve the community, by becoming treasurer of Memorial Community Cemetery of La Grange. Cleo loved to cook meals for family and friends, especially during the holidays. She made sure everyone had a plate. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and auntie. Cleo will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by parents: Pearline Filmore and Lora Hubbard, husband: Curtis Grant, son, Bernard Grant, sisters: Pearl Franklin, Georgie Gaston and Alice Marie Monroe. Brothers: Tommy Filmore, Billy Ray Hubbard, Lawrence Little and Lorinza Hubbard.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her two loving and devoted daughters: Charline Grant Wallace and Carla Grant Castille. Three sisters, Ada Williams, Lora Kay Hubbard, and Brenda Toliver. One brother, John Lewis Hubbard. One uncle, Lewis Thompson. Five grandchildren, Tiffany, Rossalyn, Delisia, Robert and Chantierra. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
