On September 1, 1960, in La Grange, TX a son was born to Johnnie and Jessie Mae Johnson. They named him Bobby Charles Johnson. He departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The angels were dispatched to bring him to rest where the pastures are forever green. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Bethlehem A.M.E. Church. Bobby graduated from La Grange High School at age seventeen and went directly to The University of Texas in 1978. Bobby was a former defensive back for the Texas Longhorns, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Bobby was the “son” of the sunshine. He was a kind gentleman who listened, comforted, laughed, encouraged and made others feel important and recognized. He rode horses better than horsemen on the westerns. He could use a rifle better than sharp shooters. He was also a great fisherman. Always making sure others got what they needed – a giver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters (Thelma Kirby and Ossie Lee Orise) and 2 brothers (Robert and Lonnie Johnson). He leaves to cherish his memories: 2 brothers and 1 daughter-in-law, Murvell Johnson of Dallas, Texas and Johnnie & Julie Johnson of California, five sisters, Earline & David Carter of La Grange, Texas, Lorine Rose of Bryan, Texas, and Jeanette & Samuel Scott of Houston, Texas, Bobbie Houston of Katy, Texas and Donna Johnson of Austin, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
