Life and Legacy of Bobby Joe Glover
Bobby Joe Glover was born on September 26, 1940, in Columbus, Texas, to the late Eva Mae and Johnny Glover, Sr. He was educated in the Columbus Independent School District and proudly graduated from Riverside High School in Columbus, Texas. Following graduation, Bobby relocated to Pomona, California, where he built a career as a skilled carpenter.
Bobby Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and hunting, watching classic western movies, and most of all, spending quality time with his family, whom he cherished deeply.
He was united in marriage to Florida of Columbus, Texas. Later in life, he married Wanda of Pomona, California, and then Lois of Columbus, Texas.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Glover, Sr. and Eva Mae Glover; two beloved children, Bobby Darrin and Annetta Laverne; five brothers, Reginald Glover, Roy Glover, Sr., Bennie Charles Glover, Sr., Billy Gene Glover, Johnny Glover, Jr., and Terry Glover; and three sisters, Luevada Glover Jackson, Myrtle Toliver, and Minnie Perrino.
On January 9, 2026, Bobby Joe Glover peacefully departed this life at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children and two stepchildren: Charlette Robinson (Michael) of Leander, Texas; Tina Ervin (Doniel) of Rancho Cucamonga, California; Tyrone Miller of Columbus, Texas; Sheron Smith of Brenham, Texas; LaRay Glover of Columbus, Texas; Stacy Carter (Lane) of Katy, Texas; and Kameka Edwards of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by two siblings, Leroy Glover, Sr. of Columbus, Texas, and Shirley Lavergne of Channelview, Texas.
Additionally, Bobby Joe leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Estella Glover, a special niece with whom he shared a close and loving bond, Kennett Vanterpool, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
