ARGIE MAE HOUSTON was born July 23, 1941, to the late Deaddie & Phillip Jackson. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Little Bethal Baptist Church, where she remained until her later years.

She attended school at Columbus High School until she had to leave to help her mother at home. She started a private cleaning service which she maintained until her health began to fail.

Argie met the late Walter Houston, and they were married on February 4, 1963, and to this union this union they reared seven children. Argie already had 1 daughter, Diane from a previous relationship.

Argie was preceded in death by her parents, Deaddie & Abraham Conner; two sisters, Stella Steward and Evelyn Vaughns; two brothers, Andrew Jackson and Franklin Berry; three sons, Walter Houston, Jr., Victor Roy Houston and Leonard Houston.

On March 6, 2023, she passed away on to Eternal Rest in Schulenburg, Texas at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center where her daughter worked.

​She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Denitra Houston and Judy Houston of Schulenburg, Texas; and Darla Diane Jones of Alabama; two sons, Nelson Houston and James Houston of Schulenburg, Texas; one stepson, Bennie Ray Steward (Debra) of Schulenburg, Texas; three sisters, Bonnie Wellington of La Grange, Texas, Georgette Scott and Pearlie Williams of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
