Anthony Quin Benford was born on March 14, 1964, in La Grange, Texas to Hopalong Benford and Gloria (Conner) Culberson. Anthony attended La Grange High School and furthered his career in becoming a truck driver for 20 plus years, He devoted his time in helping others in maintaining their sobriety.
Anthony was an AA sponsor and survivor. He recently celebrated 12 years of sobriety. He was a real man of God and was not afraid to praise him. He was up front every Sunday encouraging the pastor to preach the word of God.
He enjoyed entertaining family and friends, though he had on children of his own, he was still a father figure to his nieces and nephews. He would spend most of his spare time sharing the word of God at the Arch and the church under the bridge, when he was not attending activities at his home church (St. James Missionary Baptist Church). Whenever you needed him, you could always count on the "UNKSTA SLAMMER".
Anthony was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Walter and Gloria Culberson, grandparents, Frank and Mamie Conner and Clarence and Minnie Benford. Brother, Keith Culberson, sister and brother, Terri-Jean and Jerri-Jean, brother Darin Benford, brother Michael Rider and his nephew, Ryan Anthony Grant.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory. Four sisters, Shelia Grant, Linconia Orise (Linzy), Linda Benford, and Shenda Battles (Tyrone). Eight brothers, Ronnie Benford (Cynthia), Fernando Benford (Danielle), Torrance Benford (La Sandra), Walter Culberson, Jr. (Jennie), Charles Culberson (Angela), Broderik Rider (Latosha), and Gable Troupe. One uncle, Willy Ray Culberson (Carla). Four aunts, Ora Lee Williams, Katherine Hutchinson, Georgia Richards (L. C.), and Erissie Conner.
Anthony also leaves two godchildren, Josiah Jarvis and Oakley Talbert, a host of nieces and nephews, and very close friends, Chaney Johnson and Pastor Austin Jones and John Daniels that were like brothers to him.
